Ok so here goes,
This game reeks of mediocrity. Ok so basically this game is nothing new, there is a reasonably ok shooting mechanic which gets increasingly repetitive and annoying and gives me very little to complain about or praise except for the sheer lack of any originality or flare. Basically you walk through room, shoot bad guys.... repeat. Then there are the occasional mech suit areas in which you jump in a hugely overpowered suit thingy and shoot everything that moves for about ten minutes, this section is pointless since a retarded monkey using a wii mote could easily breeze through these parts. Ok so that the shooting bits, on to the 'story' a term i use lightly and the 'scare factor' which again loosely. The first mission of the game made me jump.... once, from then on all the freaky psychic bits and random Alma attacks were the same. As we all know repetition takes away shock and so I found myself bored of the whole affair after 10 minutes. However i battled through and tried desperately to make sense of what the hell was supposed to be happening. I failed, whilst i managed to get a gist of what I supposed was to be doing I wasn't able to gleen anymore than that. Also I was massively dissapointed by the 'grand conclusion' which made about as much sense as a nuclear powered orange.
If I could give minus stars I would. I would not recommend this game If you play games for more than the shiny moving pictures.

Great game with brilliant effects that make you feel your in the middle of a horror movie.

When I first heard about this game I thought it sounded really good, and I was right. In my opinion people compare this game to titles such as Resident Evil 5, or Dead Space. If you actuallly play through the story, the gameplay is very similar to Killzone 2.
The storyline is good, and when played on a challenging difficulty is a fair length. The graphics are good, and I think that the style in which the game is layed out is good. It all takes place over a days event, all levels linking into the next one. Enemy AI is impressive, as well as the array of guns available throughout.
There is a couple of expansions on the PS Store but I have'nt played those yet. The muliplayer is ok, but nothing to get excited about. Overall, I think it's a good game to play through and enjoy but it's not one of those games that you would play over and over again.

When I found out that this game finally had a release date I couldn't wait to get it because the first was awesome and everything the critics were saying made it sound really good. So I bought this the week it was released and boy was I dissapointed.
I played this game just after finishing Dead Space and at the same time as Killzone 2 and in comparison it was the worst out of the 3. The graphics are horrible compared to Killzone, the atmosphere isn't as good as Dead Space so it isn't scary, the story is pretty rubbish compared to Dead Space (although it did have more of a story than Killzone), The online is broken (it crashes a lot, you have to wait 10 minutes for the game to start and according to it I have never finished a game when I've played more than a dozen) it has pretty much the same guns as Killzone (Flamethrower, Sniper rifle etc.) and the enemies in both games even look kinda alike.
But what did I like?. Well the enemies were smarter than in Killzone (they try to flank you a lot), the slo-mo is awesome and the game is longer than most other shooters but that's it.

The original FEAR was a supernatural take on the FPS. Project Origin offers more of the same; it's a gratifying shooter, loaded with scares. FEAR 2's story begins 20 minutes before the explosion which closed the original. Playing as squad member Michael Becket, it shows events from a different perspective, but also deals with the ensuing chaos. Becket's FEAR (First Encounter Assault & Recon) team are sent to collect Genevieve Aristide, President of Armacham Technology; the company behind the madness. They must extract Genevieve before an Armacham clean-up squad gets there first. This leads to the mysterious Project Harbinger, and the continuation of Paxton Fettel's mad scheme. There's also the small matter of Alma the telepath, who is now older and much angrier.
Narrative is one of the stronger aspects in FEAR 2, with some nicely developed plot twists. Intel is located throughout levels, and if time is taken to read them, genuinely gives depth to the story and central characters. It also fills in events between levels. For example, what happened between the explosion, and waking up in hospital.
FEAR 2 explores the terrifying Alma much more. She is displayed as a young adult, and her story is given increased focus. Alma plagues Becket throughout, and provides most of the games shocks. they range from bodies falling through a ceiling to hallucinogenic visions. These moments keep tensions high and the sense of uncertainty constant. Yet it feels overused in places, and can become a little predictable.
Slow motion abilities return, triggered by the blast. Entering this mode activates a blue glow around enemies. It feels oversimplified, but makes combat a visceral affair. Enemies react intelligently, kicking over tables and making use of cover. The AI provides a challenge on harder settings, hunting in packs, and flanking Becket at every opportunity. Levels have more variety than the corridors and offices of the original. Locations include an abandoned school, evil corporation headquarters, and an entire town.
Sadly, the visuals haven't progressed from the original. Outside areas have an apocalyptic feel, with decaying streets and a truly menacing sky. But indoor sections are near identical to the 2005 hit. It feels basic and lacks detail. Puzzles are also defiantly old school, such as shooting padlocks and locating key cards etc. However, there is a greater degree of interaction, and some nice environmental destruction. Animation is also greatly improved.
On a few occasions, Becket jumps into a heavily armoured Mech Walker. With infinite ammo and superior firepower, they make a change from the oppressive feeling of being hunted. But gameplay feels so far removed that it's like an entirely different title. these sections are an awkward fit, but remain entertaining.
Smaller gripes include tinkering with the weapon set. The Hammerhead isn't nearly as brutal. It previously pinned enemies to walls, which happens far less here. The 'visor' viewpoint initially felt intrusive, filling the screen with unnecessary lines and symbols. And the ending is just weird. But overall, FEAR 2 is a very solid shooter, with a great narrative and satisfying combat.

First person shooters are great but throw in a bit of horror as well and thats the cherry on top of the cake!!
I played, completed and thoroughly enjoyed the first F.E.A.R instalment what seems like an age ago, so therefore I was looking forward to the sequel as soon as it was announced.
I can quite happily say that FEAR 2 does not disappoint from the first heart pounding minute to the last ... admittedly strange... second! Fans of the first game will notice that the horror element still remains but if anything it has more of a sci-fi twist to the story as well.
The game overall is graphically top notch and surpasses the first one in terms of the sheer detail of your surroundings as well as the various enemies that you encounter during the game. Granted the one thing missing in my opinion is the lack of a jaw dropping moment graphically in the game, but to make up for that you get plenty of pant wetting scary moments.
This is where the game succeeds in my opinion as it teases you with a mixture of horror and straight up army type combat.
F.E.A.R 2 is well worth a look, especially now as it seems to be in the budget purchase price bracket. You get a solid, well presented, non glitch (well until the last mission for me) experience. For any fans of the first FEAR who have been put off by the few negative reviews floating about the game the only thing I can say is .. yes its not the same as the first one and you may find it easier than the first one as I certainly did but it is still a solid sequel and you don't want to buy FEAR 3 when its released and miss out on a whole chunk of the story!

F.E.A.R 2 IS SIMPLY AWESOME.I OWN OR HAVE PLAYED EVERY FPS FOR XBOX360 OR PS3 AND THIS IS AS GOOD AS IT GETS.
THE GRAPHICS ARE AT THE PINNACLE OF FPS-I HAVEN'T SEEN BETTER.THERES LITTLE TOUCHES TOO IN THE ANIMATION LIKE IF YOU SHOOT A GUY IN THE LEGS,HE WILL STUMBLE AND TRY TO GET BACK TO HIS FEET-IT'S VERY REALISTIC.
THE GAME PLAYS AND MOVES GREAT AND PUTS YOU IN SOME GREAT BATTLES-THERES A FEW COOL LEVELS WHERE YOU CONTROL AN ARMOURED MECH TOO WHICH IS A NEARLY INDESTRUCTIBLE ROBOT-CARVING SOLDIERS UP AND WATCHING THE WAY THEY COME APART IS A LOT OF FUN(AGAIN GREAT ANIMATION).
THEY HAVE IMPROVED OVER THE ORIGINAL IN EVERY WAY-WHEREAS THE FIRST WAS BASICALLY ALL OFFICE OR WAREHOUSE ENVIRONMENTS THE LEVELS HERE ARE MORE VARIED WITH INTERESTING LANDSCAPES.
THE DOWNSIDES?STORY IS OK-NOTHING GREAT BUT FEW VIDEOGAMES ARE STORYWISE AND THE GAME ISNT VERY SCARY COMPARED TO THE FIRST F.E.A.R OR MONOLITH'S OTHER SERIES CONDEMENED,ALSO I FOUND IT MUCH EASIER ON THE HARDER SETTING THAN THE FIRST,BUT NOTHING DETRACTS FROM THE FACT-IT IS SIMPLY AN AMAZING FPS AND GAME.

I really like F.E.A.R, it's great fun to play (especially if you want to freak yourself out). It is a scary game and I've not played it in the dark but I've been told that it is way worse, as you'd expect.
Although I'm not so good at shooting games I enjoy this one, probably because of the scares and thrills.
It is a well worth game to play; and if you like a good scare then I would definitely recommend it.
P.S watch out for Alma...
5 stars!

Fear 2: Project Origin is a follow up to the successful PlayStation 3 game fear that was an early release for the console at the time. Fear 2 continues on just after the first game and you have been sent to get answers and find out just exactly whats going on with Alma.
Throughout the game you will go through a school, hospital and the outside world all in pursuit of Alma. Picking up varying weapons along the way. You will be faced with choices as to which weapons to use as you can only carry four at a time and each one is better for certain type of battle so you wont want to be caught short. As well as that the replica soldiers who you will battle throughout the game are really intelligent and will hide behind tables and walls and drag you out into the open by using grenades. Even thought definitely a fps it includes elements of horror a bit like Silent Hill.
While the graphics and sound are good they are no where near the best that the PlayStation 3 has to offer. But if you like your first person shooters with a bit of horror thrown in i would highly recommend this game

the game was good from start to finish and was as good as the 1st fear with alot of good scary bits to. would recommend the game highly as it deserves a good 4 out of 5

It's good how it's made it. Some magazine said "it's better than the first." And they were right and it's good to know what's going on, better graphics, maltiplayer, it's not really that scary but sometime it does make you jump when Alma comes up in one second. But it's feel like a movie because not just it's a WB Games, it's at the start of the game where the music, cut serie and the title come up. Great game and I like it.

This game will hold you on the brink of total nervous breakdown, until the very surprising end. Yes, the end was amazing and almost rare.
A top game for custumers searching for a fast pasting horror action story.

Ok, first off, I loved FEAR.
FPS plus scary children.
FEAR 2 is more of the same but for me that's what I want.
I don't want puzzles, I don't want to create levels for other
punters. Little Planet my arse.
I want guns, blood and horror.
The only thing missing is large mammaries, but that can wait for FEAR 3.

If you loved the first fear, like me, you won't be disappointed. F.E.A.R. 2 delivers the same spine tingling action as the first, but seems to have lost something that kept you glued to the previous. For example, the Slo-Mo feature is still there, but for some reason i never use it, unlike in the first. But this is still cracking good fun as a single player first person shooter.
Now, onto the Multiplayer.... this is where the game is really let down; you can't send invites to your friends, so if you wanna play together online, you have to trawl through tons of games to find the right one! and playing the ranked matches is a complete waste of time, as i realised after a couple of hours of playing, finally i managed to rank up thinkin that i would unlock some cool new weapons or armour, but no... all i got was a lousy trophy on the PS network :(
If you're looking for hours of online action, stick to call of duty. If you want a good single player brawl, then check out the demo on the PS store before you buy, have fun!

Ego shooter on low level. Played on hard in 8 hours. Multiplayer not functional, no squad, team or friendlist invite. Fun for short time.
Source: [amazon.co.uk]
For me it was either this or Killzone 2. Played both demo's and although the graphics look stunning on Killzone 2, the game seems a more run-of-the-mill first person shooter.

I bought this game last week with doubt in my mind. I thought maybe i should wait for KillZone 2, how wrong i would have been.
This game is brilliantly constructed by EA, it begins in a very dark and spooky setting, with the lights off and surround sound on you really do feel your pulse race when you hear somone, or something breathing behind you!!
Graphics 10/10
Gameplay 10/10
Special effects 10/10
Sound 10/10
As you can probably tell I think this game is a must have. I have never played FEAR in the past, normally stuck to Call of Duty etc but this ticks all the boxes. Well worth the 27quid and yet again amazon are cheapest on the net.
Whats the worst that could happen??

A big disappointment. Cheap thrills, outdated graphics and boring gameplay. It's like I'm playing the same game 4 years later. Rent it, don't buy it

Having never played the first F.E.A.R game, I went into this game hoping that the hype and people's reccomendations would live up to what I imagined and this game has certainly exceeded my expectations.
The gameplay in F.E.A.R 2 is fast-paced, exciting and a rollercoaster ride from the get go. There's a nice selection of weapons for you to play and experiment with and the Power Armored Unit really makes you feel like a destructable machine and is really satisfying to control and blow up everything in your path.
The game takes you around a few different locations also such as the school and hospital but you're also outside in a world that looks completely destroyed and eerie. There are plenty of intel to find and a nice selection of human and other enemies and the story is well written and acted out.
I have had alot of fun playing the game and earning trophies and the game has been a really creepy and scary experience in some. I am now a fan of the F.E.A.R series and I'll probably check out the first agme now.
The online modes are quite fun too, they may not keep you away from other online games but they are fun to check out. Overall a great game with some very nice graphics in parts, runs very smooth with satisfying gameplay and some genuinely creepy moments and it's also a decent length too providing some good replay value.

I like this game, the gameplay is good and i like the weapons u can use. The AI are good with enemy AI taking cover with objects but you can also take cover yourself. It has a good story mode i have got a quarter way through the game and i have still got loads more to do yet so it will last you. About the horror, its a bloody game with blood and guts everywhere you walk, there are parts that make you jump but its not the scariest of games. It does have a good story and objectines as you go through. And i like the the locations, they vairy.
The things that it could be improved on is the online, there are not may people playing and when you do find a game you have to wait until everybody is "ready". There are ranking systems but you can't really see anybody's rank while playing and there could be more weapns to choose from.
But it is a worth while game at £30, would recommend playing in the darck with 5.1 surround sound!

Just recieved the game from Amazon for my ps3. I loved the first fear so project origin was easy call. But, have to say I was disapointed by the graphics and the sound, it looks almost same as first fear, can't really see too much improvement. And the audio is same as in first fear, even the music, so to me its more like expansion pack with new weapons. But i guess that you dont buy this game for how good it looks because it doesnt, but because of Alma. Yep she is even more scary now, you will play the game with the lights on, thats how scary it gets. Also love the story, but basicaly you always try to get from point A to B and on the way something always happens so you must find the way around, but most of the time you can predict where, its just too obvious. in General good game, but for me its just three stars because of graphics,i just cant get over it. If you are looking for first person game with great graphics i would recommend you buy killzone 2, but for that we must wait untill the end of the month, so for now fear Alma again.
