PS3 LOOKS GREAT ON LARA!, 5 May 2010

I am a long time player of Tomb Raider games but not a big time gamer. I found this game to be one of my all time favorite TR games. For one thing, the graphics were outstanding but more then that, I was able to customize the game play so that it was at a level easy enough for me. I was worried that I would have game glitches or freezing problems because of some of the reviews that I have read but that was not the case, which made the game even more fun. The only downer in this game for me was the fact that Lara has little to no contact with any people in this game also, the ending. I wanted to see Croft Manor restored. Over all, this game was a winner for me.

Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Underworld Is It Good or Is It Bad?, 21 Apr 2010

Lara Croft the one woman who brought sexy back to the virtual dig-site. And now she's at it again.

But the number one question on everybodys mind is, how dose it match up to the other Tomb Raider's.

It keeps the flavor of prime Lara Croft from let's say Anniversary, but if fails as a sequel. Underworld is the much antisapated sequel to Tomb Raider: Legend, which had a more relistic plot-line and made you feel you're there in a good action movie, and kept you right along with the plot. However in Underworld everything changes durasticaly and the game gives off a sence of un-reality, leaving you saying "Yeah Right!" So it fails as being a sequel, how dose it measure up on other things?

    GAMEPLAY:

The gameplay for Underworld is relitivly normal to the others, with a few new things here and there. You do get to wield you're two pistols, however it isn't somthing really remarkable, and get's kinda boring. You get your grapple hook (new since Ledgend) Your dual guns. And some other weapons you collect along the way. you can, however, change Lara's outfits at the beggining of the mission, you can choose from three ( or two wetsuits during water missions).

Warning: However, the camera's are different (in PS3)and the tend to give me massive headaches. So I hope you don't have that proberlem with the game.

    GRAPHIC'S:

The best part of the game is undoubtbly the graphic's. there are beautiful, and is some of the best graphic's I've seen a PS3 game so far. Except for the charictars, mercenaries, wildlife. they are pretty same-old stuff.

The game dose have the 'flavor' of a Lara Croft game. It is not a good sequel because it didn't keep the Legend feel that would have made the game a hell of alot better. to anyone out there, if a game sequelizes KEEP THE SAME FLAVOR AS THE THING YOU ARE SEQUELING! or it will end up like a flop.

Not Bad - Could Be Better, 28 Mar 2010

Like may others, I have played all the Tomb Raider games, and found them on the whole to be challenging, innovative and pleasant way to pass a few hours. Having seen what the PS3 is capable of graphics wise, I was very much looking forward to seeing and playing this game. On that point, it can't really be faulted. The art work is quite magnificent and the backgrounds look lush. The musical score is also excellent, especially in the later levels. But the actual gameplay itself is lacking somewhat.

The story follows directly on from the previous game Legend, and follows Lara as she searches for her mother, who she believes is in the mythical Avalon. Natla, her enemy from the very first game reappears, as does (the rather foxy) Amanda, who appeared in Legend. The story is heavily influenced by Norse mythology, and the quest for Thor's hammer is central to the plot. In fact, when I could finally use the hammer as a weapon, I had the most fun!

But this is a much easier game than any of the others in the series. I didn't really get stuck once in the main gameplay. If you really can't find a way to do something or get somewhere, there are hints and tips that are available from Lara's PDA. So no need to buy one those expensive walkthrough books. Lara can get stuck if she jumps into a corner or tight space and a lot of control waggling is required to get her out. Or if she shoots her guns she can usually jump free. I have to say that I didn't find any of the bugs that others have mentioned. Maybe mine is a later copy that has had them ironed out. I was disappointed that there were no really big, tough bosses at the end of the levels, and the final battle isn't really a battle at all, although it does look good. Indeed, the battles are quite easy to win. I did them all with the pistols without any problems. (Until I got to use the hammer!) There are bits and pieces I didn't really get, like why, near the end, bits of wall lit up when you touched them. I spent a good while looking for something that it might have triggered but found nothing. Maybe it was to do with finding a treaure or a relic that was too well hidden for me.

Overall, it's not a bad game, just not that challenging. I hope that when the next game in the Tomb Raider series comes out, that it goes back to basics; raiding tombs, tougher puzzles and less wimpy enemies. Come on Eidos, give us what we want!

Lara Croft's Return from The Hum-Drum Letdowns Of The Last Few Years, 17 Mar 2010

I was a major fan of the Tomb raider series since its first release around 1995 up until the dismal failure of Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness with all its bugs in the game. For awhile I forgot about the tomb raider games until the game Uncharted 1&2 came out and renewed my entertainment for these kind of games, and with the better action controls storyline and effects for the game as well as the price very much worth getting again. The game story interconnects with the previous game Tomb raider legend Lara now starts a quest to find the mystical land of Avalon and find out what has happened with her mother who seems might be trapped there. The game has great action and the voice cast for the characters were picked perfectly but as you play you sometimes miss Nate Drake's witty sarcastic humor and smart mouth, Lara has witty remarks with her enemies as well but sometimes it feels more like she's being condescending with an air of superiority against her enemies than anything else and that sometimes makes her a little dis-likable. Still for Lara Croft fans and fans of action games here's a pretty good selection for your gaming library and again for the price a pretty good deal...

Best so far., 3 Mar 2010

I haven't play a Tomb Raider game for a long time, 'til I decided to buy a new PS3 250gb. First game I bought and so far, even thought I haven't finish the game yet, it is the best Tomb Raider.

Of course, since I'm playing in fully HD, everything looks much better, and not only looks better but also have new movement. Some times you'll get stuck in the game, but that's the fun of it, to find out how to get ahead in the game.

Me being 44 it's hard to play because of my job and all the chores to do in my house, but whenever I can I played it.

    Have fun with the game.

Doesn't live up to the promise..., 25 Feb 2010

I loved the early Tomb Raider games and played `em for hours on the PC. But here we have an example that sometimes more is less.

Graphically pleasing. Atmospheric. Clever. It is all of these, but it is also incredibly frustrating. What finished it for me was the pillar jumps. It just never ends.... One fraction of a millimetre out and Lara ends up dead - again - and you have to go back and do it all again.

It's obvious that you have worked out what you are supposed to do to progress, but just that tiny little bit out and she plummets to her death. Over and over and over.

Frankly, I can't be bothered with it.

    Not great, 10 Feb 2010

Two stars seems little harsh, but after enjoying TR3 on the PC and Legend on the PS2 - I didn't enjoy this one at all. The graphics are better (of course) but the animation is worse. She either does a weird slow-motion walk (you'd think she was underwater) or a run, with nothing in between. For some reason this bothered me. It's glitchy, the first PS3 game I've tried where you sometimes disappear behind flashing scenery. And it just isn't very interesting. After escaping from a burning house, which felt like it should have been an intro scene rather than part of the game, I found myself on a yacht. Unfortunately you can't drive it or lie around on the deck so I jumped into the sea. Couldn't work out where to go.

I'm afraid I stopped playing and went back to Uncharted, which is excellent. If I ever come back to Tomb Raider and discover that it's actually really good when you get into it, I'll increase the rating. Hugely disappointed.

    torn, 7 Feb 2010

I am so torn in my view of this game. i was thoroughly enjoying every bit of it. the puzzles were well crafted and the environments were gorgeous. The storyline was taking shape well, and then i hit an unjumpable pit, literally. The programmers have already issued a notice about this, but that doesn't help when i have to restart the game from the beginning because i didn't create an extra manual save point before the midgard serpent chapter. At this point, if this bug is encountered, a ramp will not appear that is required to jump the pit. There is no way around this and the pain and frustration of finding an uncompleted puzzle has been realized. I so wished i could have finished this game, but my frustration of spending a few hours trying to solve this puzzle before researching it made me wish i had created that savepoint. I hate pulling down the rating of such a beautiful game, but that bug killed my enthusiasm. If you are reading this right now, please look this bug up to ensure your completion of this game or else you'll find the same infuriating pit i had been led to.

This is why we loved Laura, 6 Feb 2010

This how you rescue a franchise, that until Crystal Dynamics, was lost in the tombs of yester-year. I was happy to see that Tomb Raider Legend did well, and so you can imagine how pumped I was to learn of Underworld.

This game finally gives you a reason to go Raiding again. Croft starts this adventure with a earth shattering opening. The masion is gone! If you played any of the recent games this game nicely ties up the loose ends to it all. Croft is looking for Avalon, and her mother who was lost to that world when she was a child. Along the way she will have some great action sequences, mind bending puzzules that are worthy of the franchise. The locations are absolutely breath taking. I don't care which next gen system you own this game is beautiful. The acting is good, and the story has some of the most interesting plot twist ever seen in a Raider game. You see in this game a harder side to Laura, and she is even vulnurable in some respects.

All your favorite allies are back. Zip and Allister play a smaller role in this adventure, but play a major role in the way the plot evovles. There are crazy chases, and a much improved combat system. The only thing that I really did not like about the game, was if you are not familliar with the previous 2 entries, you will have to pay close attention to get the information you missed. This is the game Tomb Raider used to be, Fun, challenging, and a great story.

Seriously guys this is a great game!, 5 Feb 2010

This is my 1st Tombraider game and I loved it. The first time through was hard because the puzzles are not easy. I just about lost it on the timed motorcycle run through xixalba. A fore warning that you have to save before completing the midgard serpent puzzle or you will be kicking yourself big time! The reason is that you will be doing that motorcycle run at least 20 times before you beat the timer and starting from where you last saved. I didn't save my first time and had to do the whole level from scratch. You might have to google your way out of a puzzle as well because they are way complex. Puzzles within puzzles. It does have some glitches but the game itself is so awesome you should get past it. If not you are a perfectionist and should realize nothing is perfect-even video games.

    Reinventing Perfection, 3 Feb 2010

I honestly believed that Tomb Raider Anniversary was as near perfect a game as could be possible (especially considering it was a remake). Tomb Raider Underworld is just as close to perfection, but now looks even prettier! The graphics are amazing;the worlds are huge and beg for exploration; the enemies (for the most part) are fairly intelligent; the puzzles are smart and and not too easy but not too difficult to figure out; and the overall difficulty is well balanced. I play it on the hardest mode and I get a challenge, but I never feel like I am necessarily at any great disadvantage...I love it. with the game being this good, I am not sure how the developers could get any better with future releases. But then again, I love surprises (which I failed to mention, this game as plenty of). Even though I am still adventuring within the "Underworld", I am ready for more.

I'm stunned at all the good reviews., 13 Jan 2010

This game has the worst camera and AI i have ever encountered in a game. Just to give you a little background i own 50 PS3 games. The camera is HORRIBLE! it never adjusts right and it always zooms way into lara so you can't even see what is going on or it gets stuck in certain areas. i played the game on the hardest difficulty and wow the AI is bad. I would stand right next to them and they would not fire unless i fired at them. This game also has numerous glitches. One time i needed to pick up a lever but the dam icon to pick it up wouldn't show up! so i couldn't pick it up. i had to leave the area and come back and then the icon was over it. it has also crashed on me once. i had to turn on my system to fix it. also lara sometimes gets stuck on walls and can't move. i can't believe they tested this game. the graphics are ok. nothing to sing home about. i wish the makers of this game had put an ounce of effort in this game. i payed 9 dollars for this game and i feel ripped off. I gave it more then one star because of the graphics.

Game-stopping glitches render all else largely irrelevant, 10 Jan 2010

Just before the point from which I could go no further because of a glitch, I was going to say...

    1) There's more thinking to do than in Uncharted

    2) There's less shooting skill required (well, there's no skill required, actually) than in Uncharted

    3) The graphics ... bla bla bla ...

...oh the list was going to be extensive, informative and articulate but what's the bl00dy point? If you're playing a game for a few accumulated hours and then have to start again from some checkpoint WAY back (after scouring the internet to find out if it IS a glitch and then what you did to trigger it), it wipes out any other consideration. Every quality of the game is irrelevant because the game is likely to completely shaft you at some point.

The game should be about finding out if the block WILL break that cracked trap door, or whether that rope CAN be cut to release the large weight, for example. In this game, you end up trying to find out what glaring error failed to be picked up by the testers. After all, if you're stuck it might be your lack of intelligence or the testers' lack of industry; you just don't know which. That's very bad. It would be bad even for a new bunch of people trying out a new franchise. But this is Tomb Raider for crying out loud - people will, and do, wait for a working version for something they love. There was no need to rush anything but there was every need to remain competitive with the likes of "Uncharted".

I hate to sound like a teacher, but they let the public down, they let the legend down but worst of all - you guessed it - they let themselves down.

This installment turned out to be much better than I expected, after reading a lot of negative reviews about it. I saw some bugs in the game, but they really didn't bother me much, it still runs very well. The graphics were amazing, the combat was weird at first but once you get the hang of it, it's really fun. And the soundtrack was great as well. Overall I was glad I purchased this game and I look forward to the next one.

    Pocket Raider, 8 Jan 2010

I've played all tomb raiders (TR3 being the worst, TR2 being the best) and found this to be well worth buying but ultimately way too short. I bought the game for peanuts so grateful I didnt pay full price.

    The good:

Graphics and sound are superb. I was very impressed.

Lara's movement is a lot more fluid and less android-like

Underwater stages have been removed altogether - mercifully this are limited to brief excursions to reach dry land rather than horrible levels like The Cistern on TR1. Makes me cringe just thinking about it.

Hints - no more 'do I go back now or hope to find a hole in the wall somewhere?'

For anyone who played TR Anniversary - NO BIG BOGLIN BOSS TO PULL OFF A PLATFORM EDGE with a frikking hook!!!!!!!

    The bad:

Too short. Completed in under 10 hours I think but who's counting?

Same old bugs - camera is dreadful as it's always been, not clear what is a legitimate ledge and what is part of the objective.

Why cant you find weapons? Rubbish 'choice' given at start of levels.

'Treasures' suck - they are all the same and lazily created. Compared to Unchartered's brilliance this is embarrassgin and no real incentive to get them all.

No real gunfight battles anymore - what happened? These used to be so much fun and very difficult.

Puzzles have gone from hair-pulling insanity to overly-simple push and pull fare.

No croft mansion to hone skills

No walk button, no run button - what happened?

She seems more human but overall fluidty of character and physics remain unconvincing

Too many bugs not enough real 'baddies' I had high hopes after the giant octopus in level 1 but, alas, no more huge beasts :-(

    Buy it anyway

It would deserve to be perfect, 5 Jan 2010

    Some graphics bugs, horizontal lines.

Some perspective issues that makes it difficult to move Lara without sliping and having to try many times the same action.

Background "noise" too boring. Put some nice action music there!!!

I need some "hints mode" as I'm really rooky on these games.

    Still, I'm a Tomb Rider fan,37 female.

    A Good Game!, 4 Jan 2010

This Tomb Raider is really good, its better than Legend in the aspect of a more free-roam feeling. Not sure where to start off but.

When I first got this game along with 3 others, it wasn't a difficult choice on which one I wanted to play first.

I played this one all the way through and it was fun all the while.

I don't know why everyone says this game has a bad camera, and that its frustrating...I only had about 2 if not 3 camera-moments, and that would only be when I was doing something that wasn't even called for.

This game has a great camera actually, I see everything I need to see when I turn the camera.

I had fun playing this game, and at this price its definitely worth it.

If you liked Tomb Raider Legend, I'd advise you to buy this game at such a low price.

Re: Tomb Raider - Underworld, 2 Jan 2010

Legend and Anniversary were the first games to get Laura back on track. This game is another step on the right direction.

    Things that I liked:

*Graphics are nice, but this is to be expected on a PS3 that's a step above the PS2. So really no big surprise.

*The complexity of the puzzles are alot of fun. A little bit tedious at times, but that's what I've been whining for so I can't complain. Some areas are very vast and not only do you work your way in, you need to have a good memory because you will have to work your way back out. (I wish they'd given her a piece of chalk in her backpack)

*The length of the game is long. I feel as if I got my moneys worth. But maybe most of it is running around trying to figure it out. It lacks action like previous games but will test your ability at solving.

*Selecting outfits instead of accumulating them to use later was a cool feature.

    Things I didn't like:

*She gets stuck in little corners waaaay to much.

*The camera is really lame at times

*Her movement seems to be stiff. She's not as fluid as she was in Legend and Anniversary.

*Trying to find all the artifacts and relics will drive you crazy. Some are hidden to well.

*The motorcycle drove me crazy. I couldn't change the Y or X axis on it and never got comfortable with it. And why make the accelaration R2 when most games are X. (confusing)

*The sonar was a complete waste of time. I used it in the first stage because it was there and never found the need to really need it and eventually just blew it off.

*The stories can't be looked at later.

*I think too much emphasizes was put on showing Laura's tush. It seemed to be in your face for most of the game.

Overall a nice game and I'd recommend it for anyone who likes a challenge.

    A better payoff, 22 Dec 2009

Having played most Tomb Raiders since the original on PS1, I'll admit upfront I've always understood what the developers were trying to do, I just never fully enjoyed the execution. For one, I found the puzzles to be too arbitrary, like I was supposed to know that blindly leaping from some stone pillar would land me in a position to hang from a rock face and swing to my destination. I often couldnt understand the logic of the challenges, and the payoff of a gorgeous cut-scene was rarely enough justification to play along.

Also, I found the solitary nature of Tomb Raider games to be somehow kind of lonely. Moving Lara Croft around some ancient ruin or cavern might've appealed to a horndog fanboy, but I got bored of it quickly, and the storyline was rarely strong enough to keep me hooked.

I think this is the best Tomb Raider thus far, and while TR purists might disagree, I think it is overall my favorite (and the only one, honestly, since the first that I've played through to completion). Its visually superior than the others, and it should be, its a 3rd-Gen high-def console. That said, the characters and the cutscenes are still a bit cartoony, and with what we've seen in other games, there's really no excuse. However, the environments are rendered well and the scenery is immersive.

The storyline is a little thrown together, but I appreciated the Mayan/Norse links in some laugh-in-the-face-of-history kind of way. Tomb Raider has always leaned towards the metaphysical, so there's no surprises there. The huge Viking statues gave an ominous atomosphere to the play experience, as did the "bosses" like the Kraken, which was very, very cool.

Other have complained about the camera jumping, and yeah, thats sucked at times, but my real complaint was the massive amounts of game changing bugs throughout. Play-test developers, then test it again...there's no excuse to make me not once, but twice go back to the previous level (or earlier!) because my motorcycle has "disappeared". If you are going to have auto-save, eliminate the bugs.

I personally thought it was easier to get around as Lara this game than others, and while not perfect, absolute precision was not always needed to land that backward jump from a moving hammer. This game was a bit more forgiving than other TR's.

To own or not to own...that is a question. At the low "new" price currently offered, its hard not to buy it, especially if you have a history with the series. Would I play through again though, to find each and every treasure or artifact? No way, once was all they will get out of me, so weigh that when you are making your decision. Its a fine game, and very enjoyable, but the incentive to revisit the Underworld is not strong.

Tomb raider underworld, 15 Oct 2009

The has very good graphics but the screen blurs when ever she moves. (not TV, any other game works fine) which you can get over. Another annoying thing is that it freezes my ps3 every so often, its a bug, not my PS3, never froze before.

The game can sometimes get really annoying due to the bad camera's as you jump in wrong direction and go argh! but its ok for most of the game

the gameplay seems limited, the puzzles are ok but the combat gameplay is just rubbish to be honest. main weapons is the pistils and the shotgun at close range. the enemies seem very weak and not challenging at all and the variety of enemies wasnt amazing anyway.

The end ended in a puzzle than a boss which was wierd. cant say whats happens as it will spoil it.

When you get used to it, the game feels like tomb raider again but then like 2 levels later it feels very rushed and simple and rubbish again.

There were a few bugs, none that annoyed me too much so that was ok.

In the end i feel this game was a dissapointment to the last tomb raider i played was tomb raider 4 which just rocked my world.

in the i feel it's a weak rushed game with not the best ending and i would recomend playing it either if your tomb raider fan or just not no other game to play.

after finishign this game, uncharted 1 game in the post, same type of game, it is basically tomb raider but so much beteer in design. only bad part about uncharted is that its kind of repetative with the enemies. too much combat not enough exploring but stil better though, i recommend getting both if you like this type of game.

needs more gun play, 10 Oct 2009

I really like this game...but it needs more gun play. Why offer so many weapons and not have any use for them? The puzzle aspect of the game requires a lot of thought but the original Raider games also gave you the chance to fight your way out of the maze. Where is that in this game?

I was a fan of Lara Croft games in the past but most of them weren't as good as the First One though. This is grapically good and even challenege Uncharted with the climbing bits. The puzzles was the problem, not enough action too keep you gripped and Uncharted kept you gripped, loads of action plus some decent puzzles.

If you a big fan of the past Tomb Raiders, you should get this.

You will need patience!, 23 Sep 2009

I borrowed this game of a mate and im glad i did, played this for 3 days and if i had bought this game i would of snapped it in half by now, camera angles are a dissapointment, some puzzles are extremely hard, there are simply much better games out there with uncharted 2 coming out soon, i would avoid this game if u dont have patience. Pitty i cant erase my trophies of this game as i will never play it ever again and obviously i wont get 100% on trophies. Shame!

Game was far too easy!!, 14 Sep 2009

I bought this game thinking that it would be a fun, challenging game which would take months or years to finish, like the tomb raider games which i purchased back in the PSone days.

However when i played the game i found it was far too easy to complete levels as the game was telling me which buttons to press half the time. Another downside to this game was that there are glitches in the fast moving action parts which gets annoying after some time.

Overall i think Tomb Raider:Underworld is a poor game which is not worth buying.

    A real treasure, 11 Sep 2009

To put it in short, if you've just purchased a PS3 and love 3rd person action/adventure games, YOU'LL LOVE THIS. The gameplay is handled very well with a healthy balance of platforming and shooting, the puzzles are challenging and thought provoking but not too much as you've spent 6 hours trying to figure out that there's another switch to pull!

Graphically Tomb Raider Underworld is unlike anything I've ever seen, the locations are supremely detailed, with levels such as Thailand where you can almost feel the heat of the jungle and the Arctic sea which gives you an unprecedented sense of unilinear scale and scope, the character animation is also very good with Lara's physical movements making Nathan Drake look as stiff as Mario. The best thing about this instalment of Tomb Raider is the price, with such a high quality game sold for such a reasonable price, basically you can't go wrong. So don't think about it, buy it, and enjoy!

TR will always be the best, 24 Aug 2009

Ok. So it's the trend now to bash anything related to Tomb Raider? I took me a while to decide and actually buy this game, after some really nasty comments all over the internet. But being a die-hard TR fan since 1998, I gave it a go. And man, is it awesome! I enjoyed EVERY SECOND playing this game. Yes, the camera angle can be irritating at the beginning, but as soon as I mastered it, I didn't care about anything else! Some of the "jumps" are too sophisticated for my taste (I don't like to repeat the same action of climing and jumping a hhundred times!!!!) but:

    - the story is ok

    - the locations are stunnuing

    - the visuals are nothing short of mesmerizing

    - loved the different outfit options

    - loved Lara's new moves

    - the field assitance option is REALLY good.

So, if you are a TR fan, and you heard some negative buzz (mainly comparing it to the nostalgia-inducing ANNIVERSARY), please give it a shot. I had a blast playing this game, and I am sure any TR fan will.

Good ideas but not very much options, 22 Aug 2009

The whole game has on set path so you dont hav any options so you always have to do the same thing. If they gave you a little more freedom it would be fun. The guns are bad but the graphics are good. Buy this if you are a fan if not do not. overall good game

Not a challenge, buggy, cut-down, and where are the puzzles?, 19 Aug 2009

I've played all the previous Tomb Raiders on the Sony PlayStation platform (no PC ones though). Overall the trend seems to be downwards with the occasional blip upwards.

I didn't complete the game the first time I played, because a major bug on the horizontal gears in Southern Mexico (documented by the developers, and left unfixed) made it impossible to proceed. So I was forced to start again. Then there's the closing section, where there are bits of wall that light up but don't do anything, rooms that serve no purpose, and lots of evidence of cut-down and last-minute changes.

Second-time through, it was too short, and had all the 'why did she do that?' controller uncertainty that I've learned to expect. Exploring doesn't seem to be on the designer's tick-list, and the game was as linear as a straight line. Re-using the same ship twice (after sinking it the first time) seems like lazyness in the extreme. What puzzles there were were not anything like the multi-layered, complex, challenging, inter-linked puzzles of old...

It is all rather sad. A once great and essential purchase consigned to the bargain bins of game-playing, and totally overtaken by a new generation of far better games. Saddest of all, the reviews here are full of high star ratings, presumably by fan-boys and others who are not doing comparisons, and they really don't reflect the true ranking of this game against other current games - but then, the rapid fall in price to bargain levels tells a different story, doesn't it?

No Regrets but could have been better!, 28 Jul 2009

Ok first of all I am a Tomb Raider fan and enjoy playing it very much.

This is a good addition if are NOT looking for next gen gaming.

    I liked:

    - The sceneries of all the different places around the world.

    - Story. Which is a continuation to to "Legends".

    - Being a Tomb Raider game with all its puzzles.

So if your a fan you'll probably like it more than if you weren't.

    Didnt like:

    - Glitchy graphics and bad animation. It makes you feel like its gonna stall.

    - It was somewhat short and there were no boss fights!

    - The ending was sudden and did not match the built hipe.

    - Not much of a challange. Almost didnt die once and only used Meds twice or three times throughout.

    - I liked "Legends" more because you could explore and unlock stuff at the mansion after you finish the game. But here, like I said, it keeps you wanting more.

Some truly great graphics, 17 Jul 2009

This game gets a lot out of the capacity of the PS3. The detail in the stage set in Thailand is phenomenal. Character movement is smooth and it is visually a treat. This was my first Tomb Raider game though and effectively it is a very linear game and not particularly challenging. It is probably worth owning though: it's a clasic series and unlike some of the initial products launced on the PS3, it does appear to have made use of the capacity and speed that platform presents.

Not long enough but amazing game, 18 Jun 2009

Shes back again! The graphics are just absolutly amazing, can it be possible to get any better? and the play areas are enormous! Everything about this game is pure perfection apart from the length. It took me 1week to complete it and im not on it all the time!

Just wish it lasted longer, apart from that, WOW!

    8/10 - 2 lost for the lenght.

Not great, but outdone by uncharted!, 7 Jun 2009

Considering this game was released in 2008 and after playing the previous Tomb raider game, I was expecting big things. BIG THINGS! This game has wonderful environments, and the audio is great too, similar to the previous game. The graphics aren't bad; however the game has quite a few bugs! Bugs that really shouldn't be there! Sometimes you'll be jumping onto a ledge, only to fall off or not jump at all!! Sometimes you'll walk into some tree and Lara won't be able to walk or do anything for 5 seconds, she gets stuck and then magically unstuck! One of the cut scenes had Lara MISSING AN ARM!

The general pace of the game is action followed by puzzle and then repeats! But the action is short and the puzzles are sometimes not fully clear until you do a few trial and error methods or die repeatedly!

Uncharted, a game out ONLY on the ps3, is wonderful, and truly changed things for tomb raider fans! Tomb raider is newer, and doesn't have the slick graphics, or fun that uncharted has! It's different, yes, but still!

It's just not worth paying more than £15 for! It's not a high quality title, and they haven't fixed any of the bugs! If you don't have a ps3, then maybe it's worth it for the xbox360.

Playstation 3 owners should wait for the next uncharted which is due soon, or wait till the price of this drops!

I think its Ok......not as bad as people are making it out...., 21 May 2009

Just finished playing this last night.....I am an experienced gamer, been playing for at least 22 years now.....funnily enough I never realy played TR much before for some reason, although I do have Legend and Anniversary on the PSP. SOmeone bought me this for Christmas and I just got round to playing it...anyway, it took me 6 nights to finish the game, which I thought was probably Ok, as I'm not an experienced TR gamer. However, I can see that if you have played all the other games before you can finish it in 6-8 hours as people say, as most of the time time it takes to play the game seems to be finding the next ledge to jump to....

I did make a mistake of playing on the easy setting as well....I'm not sure what difference this makes, maybe just that the shooting parts are easier, which is fine by me, as this bit tends to be an add on here from what I can gather....for FPS fans and the like, this is a poor part of the game being honest and just something you want to get over with ASAP.

One of the major parts of the game is the puzzles, which are Ok in difficulty, but not that difficult that you would be stuck for ages trying to figure them out or resorting to the internet walkthroughs.....again here I am wondeirng about the fact that I played it on easy...I made the mistake several times of referring to the field assistant, which more or less tells you exactly what to do, which kind of ruined it to be honest....

Graphically I would say its Ok....I can certainly see why so many men have become obsessed with Lara, she looks stunning....also the environments are pretty impressive. The only issue here is they look a bit dull after the mighty Thailand level....perhaps they should have saved this one for last?

Anyway, this game doesn't deserve the bad press i feel and it certainly wets my appetite for more and also to go back and play the originals...I think I have TR3 for the PS1 somewhere......

Lara is the one - addictive drug - hot zone!, 12 May 2009

Besides a few camera bugs and the fact that I needed the internet solutions to finalize this game a.s.a.p and the price offered - great!

Sometimes it reminds me on Drakes Fortune, which is even better than Tomb Raider, but at the end a fun game. If you like to solve puzzles - grab it.
